Clarice O. Kalke, 86, New Richland

Funeral services for Clarice O. Kalke, age 86, of New Richland, were held today, Jan. 21, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Richland. The Rev. Phil Lewison officiated. Interment was in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Bayview/ Freeborn Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Clarice died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the New Richland Care Center.
Clarice Orlene Kalke was born Aug. 21, 1916, to Clarence O. and Alma (Olson) Huset in Ottertail County, Minn. She lived most of her life in the New Richland area. On Nov. 17, 1934, Clarice was united in marriage to Alvin Kalke near Osage, Iowa. She worked for her family business, Kalke Block & Tile, and was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Clarice lived up at Northwest Angle on Lake of the Woods in the summers for many years. She loved fishing and entertaining friends. Clarice was very close to her family and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include children: Kermit and wife LaVonne Kalke of New Richland, and Shirley and husband Allan Hite of Chamberlain, S.D.; grandchildren: Nancy Kalke of Minneapolis, Charlene and husband, Tom McDonnell of Buffalo, Minn., Karen and husband Russell Point, also of Buffalo, Randy and wife Diane Fox of New Richland, Sandra Peterson of New Richland, Lisa and husband Rob Surat of Chamberlain, S.D., and David and wife Amie Fox of Owatonna; step grandchildren: Rodney and wife Angela Lund of Waseca, and Sue and husband Mike Plotz of New Richland; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Merlyn and wife Bonnie Huset of Winnebago: and nieces and nephews.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; a brother and a sister; grandson-in-law, Dale Peterson; and son-in-law, Armand Fox.
