Donald D. Sletten, age 79, of Austin, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Don was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Kiester Township, to Albert and Alma (Nelson) Sletten. He worked in the laundry department of Minnesota State Hospital in Faribault until 1966 when he moved to Austin and was employed at Cedar Valley Services. Don enjoyed playing softball and he loved to bowl. In his later years he enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings on TV.
Survivors include three brothers: Kenneth (Iva) Sletten of Clarks Grove, Arnold (Elaine) Sletten of Brownsdale, and Richard Sletten of Lake Mills, Iowa; a sister, Helen Raviell of Chatfield; and a sister-in-law, Anne Mae Sletten of Twin Lakes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Earl and Henry Sletten; and a sister, Violet Haugen.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Mayer Funeral Home, Austin,
with the Rev. Ronald Barnett officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday.
