Duane Ronald Langerud, age 72, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Fountain Lakes, Estero, Fla., died of a heart ailment on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Lee Memorial Health Park, Ft. Myers, Fla.
He was born April 21, 1931, in rural Leland, Iowa, and farmed west of Lake Mills, Iowa. Mr. Langerud was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, Iowa, and Hope Lutheran Church, Bonita Springs, Fla. He was a sergeant in the Korean War. His mother, Ruth Arnevik, and his father, Maynard S. Langerud, preceded him in death. Duane was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Myrna Langerud of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Estero, Fla.; son and daughter-in law, Alan and Mary Langerud of Plymouth, Minn.; two daughters and their husbands: Ann and Jay Benzshawel of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Amber and Jeff Hollar of West Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers: Calmer (Muriel) Langerud of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Mesa, Ariz., Ernest (Sue) Langerud of Lake Mills, Iowa, and David Langerud of Minneapolis; sister, Sally (Jim) Bevan of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Ft. Myers, Fla.; and five grandchildren: Daniel Benzshawel, Addison Benzshawel, Kristian Langerud, Kevin Langerud and Ethan Hollar.
The family will receive friends today, Jan. 24, 2003, from 2-3 p.m. at Walter Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Tr. S., Bonita Springs, Fla., where funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. with the Rev. John Buuck, pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, officiating.
An additional memorial service for Mr. Langerud will be held in April at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa.
