Josephine O. Lockrem, 90, Alden

The funeral service for Josephine O. Lockrem will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Kiester. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, Jan. 24, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Josephine died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at her daughter’s home, rural Alden. She was 90 years old.
Josephine was born in Winnebago County, Iowa, on Dec. 16, 1912, the daughter of Clemet and Anna (Flo) Fure. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kiester. She attended country school.
On Dec. 31, 1941, she was united in marriage with Joseph Lockrem at Bethany, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1962.
Josephine moved to Albert Lea in 1963. She worked at the Kahler Motel, Good Samaritan Nursing Home, and at St. John’s Lutheran home before retiring in 1981. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea, where she was an active member of the Mary Magdalene Circle and Sew & Tell.
She moved to Senior Towers in 1981, where she was involved in all of the activities: crafts, bingo, playing cards and potlucks. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking and baking (her specialty was kringla and lefsa for her family and friends).
She loved her family very much and leaves to mourn one daughter, Mary Behrends and her husband David of rural Alden; two grandsons: Joseph Behrends and his wife Lisa of Bakersfield, Calif., and Philip Behrends of Des Moines, Iowa; two great-grandchildren: Josephine and Mark Behrends; four brothers: Odvin Fure of Edina, Minn., Glen Fure and his wife Marjorie of Kiester, Percine “Cap” Fure and his wife Jackie of Avon Park, Fla., and Wilmer Fure and his wife Margaret of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; three sisters: Bernet Isakson of Owatonna, Berdell Trytten of Kiester, and Wilma Thompson and her husband Donald of Kenville, Texas; two sisters-in-law: Irma (Mrs. Norman) Lockrem, and Pearl (Mrs. Kenneth) Lockrem, both of Thompson, Iowa; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; two brothers: Luvern and Jenning Fure; one sister, Sarah (Mrs. David) EIvebak; and four brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law.
Josephine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
