Authorities are investigating whereabouts of Juan Miguel Sanchez, who is accused of robbing a pizza delivery driver. His trial was supposed to start today, but apparently he has decided to escape the legal system.

Sanchez was charged with first-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery in connection with an attack on a Domino’s Pizza delivery person last May. According to the complaint, Sanchez stole $16.10 and pizza from the deliverer after hitting him with an ax handle. Among five suspects arrested, Sanchez and another juvenile were accused of being directly involved in the assault.

Sanchez was bailed out with a $5,000 bond on June 28, 2002. One of the release conditions was to report to the jail daily.

On Jan. 15, Sanchez did not appear at a pre-trial hearing. The court found that he had not been fulfilling the daily check-in, and determined that he is on the run. Now, law enforcement authorities are looking for Sanchez with a warrant.

If convicted, Sanchez would face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.
