Marlin Dean Thompson, 66, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Marlin Dean Thompson, of 1807 S.E. Marshall St., Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Lissa Kahl will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before at the church. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations.
Marlin died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at his home in Albert Lea of natural causes. He was 66 years old.
Marlin was born in Bricelyn on Sept. 14, 1936, the son of Chris and Bernadine Thompson. He graduated from Albert Lea High School and has been an Albert Lea resident all of his life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marlin had worked for the railroad, the family well drilling business, and later at Wilson & Co. where he retired from in September 1998.
Marlin was a member of the VFW, Legion, and Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, NRA and several area gun clubs.
Marlin was a Golden Gloves boxer, avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling out, and reloading ammo.
He especially enjoyed the time he could spend with his family and grandkids.
Marlin is survived by his long time companion, Trudy (Pete) Donahue of Albert Lea; children: Kirk Thompson of Albert Lea, Shawn Kaasa of Albert Lea, Traci and husband Jeff Bennett of Albert Lea, Kris and husband Robert Cich of Savage, Minn., Mitch and wife Tamara Thompson of Hastings, and Jodi and husband Tom Foss of Owatonna; Grandchildren: Brooke and Brittney Kaasa, Kayla Thompson, Heather and Cody Bennett, Jacob and Michelle Cich, Makenzie Thompson, Tommy Collins, and Bobbi and Megan Foss; sisters: Beverly and husband Marvin Williams of LaJunta, Colo., and Terry and husband Elmer Kobberman of Alexandria; extended family: Shirley Donahue of Albert Lea, Tim and wife Pat Donahue of Albert Lea, Terry and husband Lane Duryee of Twin Falls, Idaho, Tom Donahue of Hopkins, and Tracy and wife Susan Donahue of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces and nephews; and ex-wives: Shirley Torsch and Marilyn Nelson.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Verlie Harrison; granddaughter, Breanna Kaasa; Bob Donahue; and best buddy, Skeeter.
Marlin will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends, and will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
