Milford Loyal Wuerflein, age 46, of Topeka, Kan., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, in Topeka.

He was born June 2, 1956, in Albert Lea, the son of Jerome George Wuerflein and Audrey Ann Nordland. He was raised in Emmons for the first 16 years of his life and graduated from high school in Pella, Iowa, in 1974. He then moved to Topeka and worked in construction as a mechanical insulator for Capital Insulation for several years. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge #90, A.F. & A.M., Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and Northland Christian Church.

He had a long and lengthy illness of cancer, he passed away at his home.

He married Janet L. Thomas on May 23, 1987, in Topeka.

Immediate survivors include his spouse, Janet Wuerflein of Topeka, Kan.; daughter, Shannon L. Wuerflein of Topeka; mother, Audrey Ann Nordland of Stewartville; father, Jerome G. Wuerflein of Albert Lea; stepmother, DeLoris Wuerflein of Albert Lea; two brothers: Clifford Wuerflein of Albert Lea, and Jerome G. Wuerflein of Emmons; two sisters: Dawn M. Kaderabek of Racine, Minn., and Tammy A. Wuerflein of Stewartville; two stepsisters: Cindy Schneider of Northwood, Iowa, and Suzi Stone of Austin; and grandson, Noah L. Wuerflein of Topeka.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Northland Christian Church. Burial will be inMemorial Park Cemetery, Topeka, Kan.

Milford Wuerflein will lie in state at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka, after 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan 14, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
