Victor M. Kuchera, 102, Glenville

Funeral services for Victor M. Kuchera, age 102, of Glenville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Jake Loper will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the area servicemen’s organizations. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home with a Masonic memorial service at 6:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.
Victor died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Alexandria.
Victor M. Kuchera was born June 5, 1900, to Joseph and Louisa (Pell) Kuchera in Glenville. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1918 and served until February 1919 during World War I. On Sept. 2, 1922, Victor was united in marriage to Eva S. Hoverson. He was a rural mail carrier at Glenville from 1919 to 1955. Victor was a charter member of Glenville American Legion Post No. 264 and a member of Western Star Lodge since 1921.
Survivors include his sons, James in Alexandria, and John in California; six grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Emily Michels of Albert Lea.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva; four brothers: Dr. Louis, Edward, Joseph, and Charles; sister, Blanche Hunt; and his granddaughter, Valerie.
