Victoria F. (Sippel) Shaw, 91, Austin

Victoria F. (Sippel) Shaw, age 91, of Austin, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at the Adams Nursing Home.

Victoria was born April 12, 1911, in Little Falls, Minn., to Joseph and Mary (Kolodgy) Sippel. She grew up in Albert Lea where she attended and graduated from St. Theodore’s High School. On Oct. 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to Robert R. Shaw in Albert Lea. The couple moved to Austin shortly thereafter. Victoria was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at the Philomathian Library. Victoria was an accomplished seamstress, loved to garden, read, listen to music and dance. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.

Robert R. Shaw of Austin; a son and daughter-in-law: Robert J. and Mary Shaw of Duluth; three daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Kellogg of Hastings, Suzanne and Roger Schweich of Hastings, and Vicky and Craig Huber of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother: George Sippel of Austin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Daniel and Fred Sippel; and a sister: Dorothy Sippel.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with the Rev. William Becker officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. rosary on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home, Austin, where friends may call from 4-7 p.m., and also from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
