The Albert Lea Tigers didn’t expect to have much trouble against Luverne in a nonconference boys’ hockey game Saturday, and they didn’t.

The locals cruised to a 7-0 victory at the City Arena.

Josh Tubbs and Wade Westland scored two goals apiece for Albert Lea, with Tubbs boosting his team-leading total to 14 for the season. Dan Breuer, Tony Dugstad and Casey Schumaker added one goal apiece.

Jon Breuer had two assists, giving him a team-high 16. Egan Mattson registered his 14th assist of the season. Corey Ellertson and Adam Boelter also had assists.

Josh Tubbs was credited with eight saves in goal.

The Tigers, 7-5 in the Big Nine, improved to 13-9 overall. They host Rochester Century in a conference game Tuesday.
