Bonita L. Stahn, 74, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Bonita L. Stahn, age 74, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be in the Welcome Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.
Bonita died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Bonita Lorraine Stahn was born Jan. 31, 1929, to Cecil and Mildred (Hurley) Benton in Foley, Minn. While growing up, she attended many schools since her father was an extension agent who was transferred frequently. Bonita graduated from Welcome High School in 1948, and St. Marys School of Nursing in Rochester in 1949. On Jan. 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald Stahn at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome. Bonita resided in Welcome until 1976, then moved to Mankato for a number of years before moving to Albert Lea in 1998. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome while living there, then a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and later the Assembly of God Church in Mankato, and was currently attending services at Good Samaritan Chapel. Bonita worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years at Fairmont Hospital and at Crestview and Lakeview Nursing Homes in Fairmont. While at the Good Samaritan Center, she was active in the Resident’s Council, the weekly devotional and church services, and many other activities. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, boating, playing piano, and walking her dog, &uot;Spike.&uot;
Survivors include her children: daughter, Rebecca Goodell and husband James of Albert Lea; daughter, Patricia Malcolm and husband Alan and children, Maria and Melissa, of Eagan; and son, Randy Stahn and wife Teresa and children, Sarah and Miranda, of Sherburn. She is also survived by sister, Patricia Anderson of El Cajon, Calif.; brother, Robert Benton and wife Marleiss of Tampa, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Bonita was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Earl Anderson in 2002; and former husband, Donald, in 1993.
