More than 100 contractors packed the county board meeting room Wednesday to try to get a piece of the new Freeborn County courthouse project.

The contractors bid on the construction work for the new judicial center addition and other changes to the courthouse complex.

The bidding consisted of 20 different categories. Staff of Adolfson and Peterson Construction, which the county hired to manage the project, administrated the whole bidding process. A team of A&P staff will scrutinize the detailed figures of bids and background of candidate contractors to submit a recommendation to the county board.

The board will hold a special meeting to award the contracts sometime in the next week. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for noon, Feb. 18.
