There aren’t too many high schools with elephants walking in the halls. But one month from now, Glenville-Emmons will have one walk through its halls and into the gym.

&uot;They are usually very curious,&uot; explained Bob Krier, a member of the Glenville Community Boosters Club, which is bringing the animals to town. &uot;They walk through the halls and if you leave anything out that might be confused with a green plant or something like it, he’ll probably pick it up with his trunk.&uot;

The Jose Cole Circus is returning to Glenville March 7 and 8.

&uot;We usually have elephants, a high-wire act, some sort of animal show, and, of course, clowns,&uot; Krier said.

The circus has been coming to Glenville for &uot;three or four years,&uot; Krier said. People from throughout Freeborn County come to the event. The event has become so popular that they will have three different shows over the two days.

The Jose Cole circus comes from Minneapolis. They do shows in Mower County and other southern Minnesota cities, but Krier said this circus is the only one of its kind in the county.

&uot;It’s really a great time,&uot; Krier said. &uot;I’ve gone every year. My kids just love it.&uot;

Most children do, according to Sherry Adams, a member of the Boosters and a second grade teacher at G-E elementary school. She said that each child at the school gets a free ticket to the circus. These tickets are donated by local companies, Krier said.

Krier said he hopes that the event will help to bring some spring joy to the area.

&uot;On March 7 people are just getting over their winter blues,&uot; he said. &uot;This will be one of the first times to get out with your family and have fun with your kids.&uot;
