Harold L. ‘Hap’ Williamson, 76, Walters

Funeral services for Harold L. &uot;Hap&uot; Williamson, age 76, of Walters, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the United Lutheran Church in Walters. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County servicemen’s organizations. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today, Feb. 13, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Hap died unexpectedly at home on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003.
Hap Williamson was born Aug. 11, 1926, to Losie and Zelpha (Heff) Williamson in Glenville. He grew up in Glenville where he attended Glenville Public School. Hap was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He served in the United States Army from 1944-1946, attaining the rank of corporal. On June 27, 1948, Hap was united in marriage to Delores &uot;Dee&uot; Vanek at First Lutheran Church in Glenville by the Rev. A. C. Korsrud. He was a buttermaker by trade, working at the Glenville Creamery and later moving to Walters where he operated the creamery from 1955-1968. Hap then owned and operated Williamson Soil Service until health forced his retirement in 1986. He was a member of United Lutheran Church in Walters where he served on the council and had been an usher. Hap belonged to Lutheran Brotherhood and had served on the Walters City Council. He enjoyed bowling and hunting and fishing with his sons, grandson, and friend, Martin. The joy of Hap’s life was family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dee of Walters; sons: Chaplain Gregory Williamson and wife Jackie of Fayetteville, N.C., Paul Williamson and wife, Lori of Baxter, Minn., and Todd Williamson and wife Sherri of Onalaska, Wis.; grandchildren: Aaron and Isaac Williamson of Fayetteville, N.C., Lucas and Spenser Williamson of Onalaska, Wis., and Rhett and Alex Williamson of Baxter, Minn.; brothers: Kenneth Williamson and wife Arlene of Glenville, George Williamson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Bernard Williamson and wife Joanne of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, Lloyd Jorgenson of Albert Lea; and many special nieces and nephews.
Hap was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary; sister, Margie Jorgenson; nephew, David Williamson; and sister-in-law, Donna Williamson.
Hap will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans or the United Lutheran Church.
