Jule P. Henning, age 83, of Bricelyn, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the South Blue Earth Lutheran Church in rural Bricelyn. The Revs. Patricia Hinkie and Edward Nieman will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn on Friday, Feb. 14, from 5-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the South Blue Earth Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.
He born May 17, 1919, the son of Julius and Lena (Husinga) Henning in Lakota, Iowa.
Jule was baptized at the German Lutheran Church in Lakota, Iowa. He attended school at Lakota Public School and was confirmed at South Blue Earth Lutheran Church in rural Bricelyn, where he was a lifelong member.
He married Emmeline A. Hove on Oct. 18, 1941.
Jule and Emmeline farmed in the Bricelyn area for many years. He also worked at the Bricelyn Canning Factory and did custom work. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Golden Gloves boxer in his younger years and enjoyed watching wrestling and telling stories of past memories. Jule will always be remembered as a goodhearted man who was always there to lend a helping hand.
He is survived by one son, Michael and his wife Diane Henning of Bricelyn; three daughters: Sheila Wigern and special friend Duane Hopp of Buffalo, Mo., Julie and her husband Robert Bramer of Waseca, and Lori and her husband Rick Olson of Albert Lea; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Helene Wallace of Wadena, Minn., Anne Gibbs of Lake Charles, La., and Pearl Waites of Washington, Mich.; and two brothers: Ernest and wife Shirley Henning of Fertile, Iowa, and Ervin Henning of Garner, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emmeline; son, Randy; four sisters: Gertie Wepel, Luci Bravick, Julia Krietlow, and Emma Spitz; and one brother, Earl Henning.
