Lars Zuelke of Camden, S.C., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital, Greer, S.C.
Memorial services were held in Camden, S.C., on Friday, Feb. 21, with the Rev. Terry Green officiating.
Lars was born in Nunda Township, Freeborn County, on Nov. 5, 1918, the son of Fred and Gertie (Tveite) Zuelke of Twin Lakes. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmons First Lutheran Church, attended country school District 43, and graduated in 1938 from Emmons High School.
Lars enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1941 and served over 20 years before retiring from the service, after which he worked as a club manager in the Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Va., area until his retirement.
Lars is survived by his daughter, Linda, and son in-law, Jim Meredyk, of Bloomington, Minn.; daughter. Vicki Small of Camden, S.C.; adopted son, Allen of Florida; stepdaughter, Karen of Florida; stepson, Steven of Alexandria, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Donna Zuelke of Albert Lea; sister, Derva Minear of Spring Lake Park, Minn.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lars was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet (Stone) Zuelke; infant sister, Margaret; sister and brother-in-law: Mildred and Franklin Filenius; and brother-in-law, Eugene Minear.
