Sports briefs: A-C boys nip G-E in double-overtime

GLENVILLE &045; The Alden-Conger boys’ basketball team defeated Glenville-Emmons 57-55 in double-overtime at Glenville Monday night.

Josh Wills led the Knights with 20 points, followed by Scott Martinson with 14 and Ben Faugstad with 13.

Michael Greibrok and Mitch Meier scored 13 apiece for G-E. Jake Hansen scored 10, Mike Yocom eight, Tyler Ziebell five.

&uot;It was a big game,&uot; said A-C coach Dave Bosma. &uot;It builds character for these guys.&uot;

&uot;We had our struggles,&uot; said Wolverines coach Dan Fredrickson. &uot;Alden plays real hard. Coach Bosma and those players deserved a lot of credit. I was real proud of our effort. Our boys didn’t quit.&uot;

N-K hoops teams fall to Greene

NORTHWOOD, Iowa &045; The Northwood-Kensett basketball teams lost to Greene in Corn Bowl Conference play Tuesday, with the boys falling 71-57 and the girls 58-45 at Northwood.

Lee Nelson led the N-K boys with 17 points. Allyson Dierenfeld scored 14 for the girls.
