Tiger wrestlers rip Austin

ALBERT LEA &045; There was some suspense in the opening round of the Section 1AAA Team Wrestling Tournament at Albert Lea Thursday night, but not about which squad would advance.
The Albert Lea Tigers easily handled Austin 62-6.
&uot;We wanted to wrestle aggressively, which is our style, and it worked beautifully,&uot; said coach Larry Goodnature.&uot; Our big concern was not to take Austin lightly.&uot;
Zach Hansen started with a 3-0 decision at 103 pounds. Albert Lea won the next two matches by pins. Josh Hansen pinned Jim McDermott at the 1:37 mark and Alex Hansen pinned Nate Granahan in 2:54.
At 125, Taylor Ignaszewski won 12-4.
Neal Underdahl won by forfeit at 130.
In the feature match of the night, the Tigers’ Adam Elseth defeated T.J. Parlin 3-2 at the 135.
Adam Morreim recorded the fastest pin of the night, in 20 seconds at 140.
Brandon Klukow won a major decision 11-0 at 145 and Dustin Eggum pinned his man in 1:50 at 152.
Austin won the next two hard-fought matches. Marcus Ball gained a 9-4 decision over Jarrod Butler at 160 and Josh Solberg defeated Derek Goodnature by the same 9-4 score at 171.
Mike Honeycutt won a forfeit at 189, Randy Larson got a pin at 215, and Chris Hable got a forfeit at 275.
The Tigers will wrestle Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center.
