Weekend Planner: Fund raisers, book signing, Moline show all planned

Brad Goette of rural Hartland will sign his recently published book, “Brad’s Walk of Life,” beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at Northbridge Mall near the Manpower office.

Goette had thought about writing a book about his life for quite some time, but because he suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, he hasn’t been able to write by hand for years.

Thanks to a voice-activated computer and a special control pad, he talked the entire book all through with his voice activator. He worked on the book for two or three hours a night until he finished. The book was initially published as an electronic book, but has recently been published in regular book form, said his mother, Alice.
