Three men are in custody in connection with the production of methamphetamine in a Hayward house.
Jeffrey John Mauer, 24, of 215 Front St. in Hayward, was charged with manufacturing, conspiracy to manufacture and aiding and abetting the manufacture of meth.
According to the criminal complaint, the investigators from the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and South Central Drug Investigative Unit found materials that can be used for making meth in Mauer’s residence. Residue in a plastic bag kept in a safe in the kitchen tested positive for meth.
Two other men, Michael Robert Hage, 27, and Thomas Jeffry Camery, 38, arrived at the house during the search. They had a fire extinguisher containing anhydrous ammonia, an ingredient used to make the drug, according to authorities. A receipt for toluene and 1.5 grams of meth were also found in the car they drove.
Hage and Camery were charged with conspiracy to manufacture and aiding and abetting the manufacture of meth, and possession and unapproved transportation of anhydrous ammonia. Camery was also charged with possession of meth.
