Betty Goskeson, 71, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Betty Ann Goskeson, age 71, of Albert Lea will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2003, at United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Jim Haun will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. today, March 30, 2003, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Betty died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at her home.

Betty Ann Goskeson was born April 5, 1931, in the Twin Cities. She came to Albert Lea at the age of 8 when she was adopted by Emil and Minnie Sundstrom and attended Albert Lea schools. On Sept. 6, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Thomas E. Goskeson at the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1997. Betty had worked as a sales clerk for Herberger’s. She was very active at the United Methodist Church, volunteered at the hospital gift shop, was a member of the Tuesday Trotters, and served as treasurer of Church Women United. Betty enjoyed knitting, collecting angels, crossword puzzles, animals and playing cards.

Survivors include her children: Jon and wife JoAnn Goskeson, Jay Goskeson, and Lori and husband Del Kusel, all of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Trent Goskeson of Albert Lea, Heidi and husband Chris Venem of Albert Lea, Todd and wife Billie Jo Goskeson of Farmington, and Lisa Goskeson of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren: Alix, Evan, Cetera, Nicholas, Josie and Jaiden; brothers and sisters-in-law: George and wife Deloris Goskeson, Orville and wife Irene Goskeson, and Evelyn and husband Ronald Carlson; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, &uot;Lady.&uot;

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, granddaughter Holly Jean, and sisters Lois and Lara.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the donor’s choice.
