Building permits reflect slow month

After a spectacular start in January with building permits issued for a new Super Wal-Mart store and the Green Mill Restaurant, the February report from the City of Albert Lea Inspection Department had a more seasonal aspect.

During February, 12 building permits with a valuation of $419,790 were issued by the city. This increases the total for the first two months of 2003 to $9,305,950.

At the end of February 2002, the city’s report showed a valuation for building permits issued as being $754,713.

The Albert Lea Public Warehouse, 2301 Myers Road, was issued a permit with a valuation of $197,500 for the construction of a 76 foot by 144 foot by 13 foot warehouse addition.

Also, during February, a building permit with a valuation of $57,600 was issued to Larson Contracting, 2621 Y. H. Hanson Ave., for the construction of a 80 foot by 60 foot storage addition.

The Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued six building permits with a listed valuation of $264,000 during February. This increases the estimated valuation for county permits issued to $300,005 for the first two months of the year.

Richards Wood Products of Geneva was issued permits in February for two new homes and garages.
