Donald Norwood Smith, age 73, of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., died on Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Crockett Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Neal Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg. The Rev. Cleo Bunt officiated. Visitation was held from 5-9 p.m. at the Neal Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22. Burial was in the Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg.
He was born in Freeborn County on June 20, 1929, the son of the late Harry Smith and the late Margaret Hawkins Smith.
He was a retired engineer from Modine and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Davis Smith of Lawrenceburg; six daughters: Kathy Friedewold of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Christie Cook of Hillsdale, Mich., Karen McCullough of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Debbie Leeth of Lawrenceburg, Lisa Roberts of Leoma, Tenn. and Cheryl McKee of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; three sons: Gerald Smith of Rockford, Ill., Mark Smith of Tempe, Ariz., and Charles Bills of Shelbyville, Tenn.; three sisters: Betty Tufte of Albert Lea, Ramona Pollema of Canyon City, Colo., and Barbara Halverson of Kiester; three brothers: Jack Smith of Albert Lea, Robert Smith of Pasadena, Calif., and Gary Smith of Manly, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
