Drug test cheater caught using Whizzinator

An attempt by a Waseca man on probation to pass on a drug test turned into a fiasco Friday.
The 20-year-old man was convicted of disorderly conduct and sentenced to a 90-day stayed sentence last September. Judge James Broberg ordered a weekly drug test after he was summoned on suspicion of violating probation conditions.
He tried to cheat the test, using a “Whizzinator,” a device holding uncontaminated urine. He successfully handed in the fake urine without being noticed by the probation officer who administrated the test. But, his luck expired when the substitute ‘clean’ urine tested positive for evidence of controlled substance use.
The man was sent straight to the jail, where officers found the Whizzinator attached to his body.
A Whizzinator is a waistband with a plastic bag attached to its side and a mock plastic genital connected to the bag with a tube. The user drains the uncontaminated urine as their own during drug tests.
The county law enforcement has seized four Whizzinators since last summer.
