Edna Pauletta Doppelhammer, age 60, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in the Ely Bloomenson Nursing Home after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Nov. 19, 1942 in Squires, Mo., the daughter of Armon and Okie (Brown) Johnson; and was a 1961 graduate of Farragut High School. She married Roger J. Doppelhammer on April 2, 1964 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She moved to Imogene, Iowa at age 12 and moved to Albert Lea in the early 1960s, where she spent most of her adult life. Pauletta moved to the Ely area in the early 1990s. She was employed as the credit manager for Montgomery Wards in Albert Lea for many years. She was a former member and Sunday school teacher at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, and a current member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ely. Pauletta was a wonderful, loving mother and homemaker. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and many friends.
Pauletta is survived by a daughter: Karla (Darren) Visser of Ely; son: Neil Doppelhammer of Tempe, Ariz.; father and stepmother: Armon and Marjorie Johnson of Shenandoah, Iowa; sisters: Sue (Dave) Kinney and Kay (Leon) McEnaney, both of Shenandoah, and Erma (Dale) Guill of Branson, Mo.; a brother: Eddie (Pat) Johnson of Corning, Iowa; half-sisters: Mary (Evan) McAllister of Marianna, Fla., Ronda Shane of Mayetta, Kan., and Rose (Myrl) Murphy of Shenandoah; half brothers: Rodney (Shelly) Wilcoxson and Emmit Johnson both of Shenandoah; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Okie Johnson, her stepmother: Barbara Johnson, and nephew: Jeffrey Leon McEnaney.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ely. The Rev. William Fossum will officiate. A memorial service will also be held in Shenandoah, Iowa at a later date.
