Gordon Knudtson, 83, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Gordon Knudtson, age 83, of Albert Lea will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. James Haun will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s organization. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
Gordon died on Friday, March 7, 2003 at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Gordon Knudtson was born on Dec. 12, 1919 in Wells, to
George and Daisy (Lewis) Knudtson. He attended rural schools and in 1932 he moved to Albert Lea. Gordon served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he returned to Albert Lea, where he worked for the City of Albert Lea in the parks department. Gordon also drove truck for Donovan Feed Company and was a cement finisher, having done most of the floors at the Methodist Church. He and his late wife, Ardith, enjoyed camping in state parks, particularly along the North Shore. Gordon was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW and the Albert Lea Senior Citizens. He also volunteered at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Survivors include his sons, Thomas and wife Judy Knudtson, Albert Lea and Daniel and wife Patricia Knudtson, Wickliffe, Ohio. Grandchildren; Siri and husband Jerron Nanneman, Theodore Knudtson, Sarah Knudtson, Kathryn Knudtson and Andrew Knudtson. Sisters-in-law, Bernadine Kuyper, Bloomington, Minn., Phyllis Nielson, Colorado Springs, Colo., Alice Meuser, Sylvia Meuser, Ruby Knudtson, Joan and husband Les Wittmer and brother-in-law Ralph and wife Eleanor Wangen all of Albert Lea. Many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ardith, daughter, Linda Knudtson, grandson, Matthew Alan Knudtson. Brothers, Robert and Wilfred Knudtson, sister, Winifred Nelson. Brothers-in-law, Lyle Kuyper, Willie Nelson, Darrell Meuser and Kendall Meuser. Sister-in-law, Ann Knudtson.
Memorials are preferred to the United Methodist Church of Albert Lea.
