When Ruth Jacobson moved into the apartments at Thorne Crest, she decided she wanted to help out with things.

That is when Jacobson started volunteering at Thorne Crest, around 17 years ago.

She volunteers every Friday morning. She goes around and pours cups of juice for residents. She also helps out with the many craft activities the seniors can take part in, and helps out with the different holiday and birthday parties Thorne Crest holds throughout the year.

“We have a lot of fun,” she said.

Jacobson enjoys interacting with the residents while she volunteers. She looks forward to their weekly meetings.

“You get acquantted with people,” she said. “They tell me about their grandchildren and such.”
