Leonarda C. Padilla, age 77, of Owatonna died on Thursday, Feb. 27 at her daughter’s home in Owatonna. A Mass Of Christian burial is set for Monday, March 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (512 S. Elm) in Owatonna. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Owatonna. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today, March 2, at Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road) in Owatonna. The visitation will continue Monday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home followed by a procession to St. Joseph’s Church.
Leonarda C. Castillo, the daughter of Hipolito and Antonia Garza Castillo, was born on Jan. 8, 1926 in Eagles Pass, Texas. She was united in marriage to Raul C. Padilla Sr. on Oct. 3, 1948 in Albert Lea. They moved to Owatonna in 1953. Padilla was a homemaker. She loved her family gardening and flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Raul Padilla Sr., three daughters, Josie and Bob Duenes; Lee and Roger Stennes; and Angela Padilla; all of Owatonna, two stepdaughters; Andrea and Jesse Jimenez; and Herminia Aguiniaga, both of San Antonia, Texas, four sons; Robert Padilla of Owatonna; Cruz and Debbie Padilla of Shingle Springs, Calif., Raul Padilla Jr. and Ruben and Diane Padilla both of Owatonna; sister, Amalia Rodriguez of Owatonna; brother, Domingo Castillo of San Jose, Calif.; 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, Juan and Natalia, sister and one grandson.
