War protesters and supporters alike are expected to gather near the Bridge Avenue and Clark Street intersection in Albert Lea at 4:30 p.m. today.

Peace advocates have been staging the gatherings for more than a month, and soon after the demonstrations began, supporters of a U.S.-led war against Iraq have been mounting a counter-protest.

Elsewhere in Albert Lea, churches have scheduled weekly prayer services to last the duration of the war. The services, organized by the ELCA Lutheran Churches and Christ Episcopal Church, are planned for 5 p.m. on Sundays. This week’s service is at First Lutheran Church. Other services are set for March 30 at Grace Lutheran Church; April 6 at Ascension Lutheran Church; and April 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church. The services will last about a half an hour. All members of the community are invited to attend.
