Lorraine Harriet Larson, 82, Owatonna

Lorraine Harriet Larson, age 82, of Owatonna, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at her home peacefully surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 6, 1920, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Bennett and Nanda (Bagaason) Skaug. She was baptized and confirmed at Central Freeborn Church, Albert Lea. She attended Hammer School through eighth grade, then graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1937. She graduated from the Minneapolis Business College in June 1938. She was employed as a billing clerk and secretary by American Gas Machine Company. She married Donald J. Larson on Dec. 9, 1942, at Central Freeborn Church and accompanied him to Camp Haan, Calif. While there, she was the secretary to the camp dental surgeon. She went with her husband to Fort Bragg, N.C., and Fort Dix, N.J., before he was transferred overseas. After the war, they lived in Albert Lea, where their two children, Bradley and Jane, were born. They moved to Owatonna in 1956. From 1970 to 1980, Lorraine worked at the Steele County Credit Bureau. Lorraine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a former circle member, Sunday school teacher, and Altar Guild member. She also did volunteer office work at the church. The couple enjoyed over 60 wonderful years together.

Survivors include her husband, Don Larson of Owatonna; son, Brad and Pam Larson of Apple Valley, Minn.; daughter, Jane and Don Dulac of Owatonna; two grandsons: Scott and Melissa Larson, and Chris and Nova Larson; and two granddaughters: Heather Larson and Renae Dulac.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bennett Skaug; her mother, Nanda Bagaason; and one sister, Lucille Studt.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Owatonna, on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at

Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The Rev. Louisa Fure will be officiating. A private family burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.
