Agnes Friday, 91, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Agnes Friday, age 91, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert Schneider will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Agnes died on Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Health Care Wing.

Agnes was born on May 26, 1911, the daughter of August and Anna (Weske) Muenzer of Rush City, Minn. She graduated from Rush City High School and worked doing custom sewing and cleaning in the Rush City area.

She married Roland Friday on Sept. 12, 1935, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City.

In the fall of 1944 they came to Albert Lea to operate the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Agency. In 1948 she joined the staff at Wallace’s as the alteration lady. She also worked as head cook and dining room manager at the Albert Lea Country Club for 10 years, and then worked at Montgomery Ward until she retired. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and entertaining family and friends.

Agnes was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, CCW of St. Theodore’s, the sewing group of St. Theodore’s, Does No. 70, and the Senior Center.

She is survived by one son, Verne Friday and his wife Arleen of Hopkins and their daughters: Cindy Fischer and her husband Rick and their children, Julia and Matthew of West Fargo, N.D.; Sandra Weiland and her husband Tom and son Jack of Elgin, Ill.; and grandchildren: Robert and Ginger Friday and their sons, Derrek and Trevor, of Albert Lea; Susan Kalis and her husband John and their children, Jessica, Timothy and Samantha, of Albert Lea, Michael Friday and his wife Dawn and children, Jonathan and Jared, of Albert Lea. She is also survived by her sister, Dolores Morey of Motley, Minn.; brother, Conrad Muenzer of Rush City; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Friday of Albert Lea, and families; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, on Oct. 2, 1992; and son, Clair Friday, on July 14, 2000.
