Carrol S. Bartness, 80, New Richland

The funeral service for Carrol S. Bartness, of 25728 70th St., New Richland, will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland. The Rev. Paul Andree will officiate. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland.
Carrol died suddenly Sunday, April 27, 2003. He was 80 years old.
Carrol was born July 28, 1922, in Bath Township, Freeborn County, to Martin and Minnie (Johnson) Bartness. He married Ivadell Beneke on March 29, 1947 at Hartland. Carrol was a lifetime resident of the New Richland area. He attended Dist. 8 School and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. Carrol farmed. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy. He received a Purple Heart while serving. Carrol enjoyed traveling, reading, fishing and hunting.
Carrol is survived by his wife, Ivadell of rural New Richland; two sons: Del Bartness and his wife Carol of Leander, Texas, and their son, Jason; and Gary Bartness of New Richland; brothers and sisters: Vernon Bartness of Seattle, Wash., Donald Bartness of New Richland, Doris Sigurdson of Albert Lea, Merle Bartness of Ellendale, and Jean Holland of Ellendale; sisters-in-law: LaVonne Bartness of Hartland, and Delores Bartness of Hartland; and brother-in-law, Eugene Warke of New Richland.
Carrol was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Mervin and Delano Bartness; and sister, Elaine Warke.
