Mabel Annette Madson, 96, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Mabel Annette Madson will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Herbert C. Hanson will officiate. Burial will be in Lime Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Mabel died on Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. She was 96 years old.

Mabel was born in Emmons on April 18, 1906, the daughter of John and Betsy (Vaale) Madson. She attended rural school near Emmons.

Mabel was married to Oscar Haugerud and later Lawrence Madson. Both preceded her in death.

Mabel had worked for Land O’Lakes for 15 years. She had also done house cleaning for area residents and had taken elderly people into her home to care for them. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, traveling and baking.

Mabel is survived by eight grandchildren: Belinda Fischer and her husband Jim of Albert Lea, Dennis Callahan and special friend Anne of Albert Lea, John Callahan and his wife Karen of Waseca, Danny Callahan and friend Marg of Albert Lea, Jeff Callahan and his wife Laura of Albert Lea, Tim Callahan of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Tom Callahan of Albert Lea, and Jim Callahan of Albert Lea; 14 great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, James Callahan of Albert Lea; one sister, Mary Norby of Albert Lea; one brother, Tom Madson of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Oscar Haugerud and Lawrence Madson; one daughter, Beverly Callahan; and four brothers.
