Ramona Arlene Olson, beloved wife of Milton Olson, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis following a brief illness. She was 71 years old. She was surrounded by her loving family when she returned to the Lord.
She was born Ramona Arlene Hansen on Jan. 20, 1932, to Henry C. (Hank) and Bessie (Christensen) Hansen of Albert Lea. She was the oldest of five children. She was married to Russell Mitchell and they had two children; a daughter, Pamela, and a son, Randall. They were divorced in 1978.
Ramona married Milton A. (Shorty) Olson on May 10, 1980. They soon purchased a farm in Mora, Minn., where they have lived ever since with Mona’s constant and devoted companion dog, Princess, and more recently with their grandson, Alex Mitchell. They loved sitting on their porch with a cup of coffee watching wildlife, especially the variety of birds they fed. Mona was also an accomplished crotchetier, and even crocheted her daughter’s wedding dress. She loved to laugh and joke with her dear best friend, Jean Stearns and her husband Chuck, of Bella Vista, Ark. She also enjoyed baking and was involved in her church, Calvary Lutheran Church of Mora.
She is survived by her loving husband, Milt, and grandson, Alex Mitchell; daughter, Pamela Headsten (Robert), and granddaughter, Brianna, of Fremont, Calif.; son, Randy Mitchell (Lori) and Amanda Johnson of Albert Lea; granddaughter, Jade (Karel) Malek of Northfield; grandson, Randy Gordon of Pequot Lakes, Minn.; brother, Ronnie (Marge) Hansen of Waldorf; sister, Judy (Clayton) Thompson of Albert Lea; and great-grandchildren: Chase and Chelsea Malek.
