Roy F. Jensen, 87, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Roy F. Jensen, 87, of Albert Lea and formerly of Clarks Grove, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove, Rev. Alvin Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in Clarks Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Roy died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center South where he has resided the past four months.
Roy F. Jensen was born Feb. 4, 1916, to Freemont M. and Cora M. (Peterson) Jensen at Clarks Grove. The family moved to Hilman, Minn. when Roy was 12. He moved back to Clarks Grove at the age of 16 to work as a farm hand. On July 21, 1939, Roy was united in marriage to Dorothy Ruth Miers in Mason City, Iowa. Farming, his family and his faith were Roy’s whole life. He spent 58 years on the farm before moving to Albert Lea six years ago. Roy had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Clarks Grove for 67 years. Roy served on the Church Finance and Trustee Boards and as an usher. He served on the Clarks Grove Creamery Board for 18 years. Roy loved farming, he enjoyed hunting, loved practical jokes and a good laugh. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and took special delight in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy; children: David and wife Bonnie Jensen of Clarks Grove, Isabelle and husband Neil Wayne of Ellendale, Glenn and wife Lynne Jensen of Golden Valley, Minn., and Nancy and husband Les Monson of Litchfield, Minn.; grandchildren: Larry and wife Kathy Jensen of Onalaska, Wis., Shelley and husband John Doran of Clarks Grove, Sherry and husband Matt McCartney of Owatonna, Ryan D. Jensen of Clarks Grove, Keith and wife Leigh Ann Wayne of Caledonia, Ohio, Chris Jensen and Nicole Jensen, both of Golden Valley, Minn., and Matt Monson and Jordan Monson, both of Litchfield, Minn.; great-grandchildren: Allison and Bethany Jensen, Tyler and Sydney Doran, Cody, Caedon, and Conner McCartney, and Nathan, Caroline, and Andrew Wayne; brother Neil and wife Phyllis Jensen of Roseville, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mollie Miers, Henrietta Lawson and Stella Svenningsen; and granddaughter Caryn Jensen, daughter of Glenn and Lynne Jensen.
