Softball Tigers fall 5-0 at Mayo

ROCHESTER &045; The best scoring opportunity for the Albert Lea Tigers came in the top of the sixth inning, when they loaded the bases with two outs.

A strikeout ended the threat.

It summed up the day for the Tigers, who collected only two hits in a 5-0 Big Nine softball loss at Rochester Mayo Tuesday.

&uot;We played hard,&uot; said coach Rick Harves. &uot;We’re doing things right. We just have to get our bats working.&uot;

Jerri Mondeel and Leah Boyer had the Tigers’ lone hits. They struck out eight times and did not draw a walk.

The big inning for the Spartans was the fourth, when they used three hits, a walk and two Tiger errors to score four times.

Nicole Rafdal again went the distance on the mound for the Tigers, giving up nine hits and three walks, with one strikeout.

The Tigers, 1-4, play Thursday at Rochester JMl
