Una Clara Murray, 92, Blue Earth

Una Clara Murray, age 92, of Blue Earth, died April 1, 2003, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Memorial services were held April 5 at Salem United Methodist Church in Blue Earth with the Rev. Dorothy J. Bull officiating.
Memorials in Una’s name will be directed to the Children’s Home Society in St. Paul, St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, or Salem United Methodist Church.
Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
Una was born Jan. 13, 1911, at Clarks Grove, the daughter of Levi and Clara Peterson. She was a 1927 graduate of Albert Lea High School and attended Sioux Falls College, transferring to Mankato State College. Una received her normal training and earned a teaching certificate. She taught in a one-room school in rural Freeborn County. Lee R. Pemberton recruited her to teach fourth grade in Blue Earth.
On Dec. 28, 1938, she was united in marriage to Omer Kenneth Murray in Clarks Grove. Una continued to teach until 1950, interrupted only by accompanying Omer to his naval post in San Diego, Calif., during World War II.
Una loved music; she sang in the Salem Church choir and was involved with the Blue Earth Concert Association Board as well as other church and community activities, including the Blue Earth Hospital Auxiliary and being a Girl Scout Leader.
She is survived by her husband, Omer Murray of Blue Earth; son, Stephen Murray of San Francisco, Calif.; daughter, Ona Springer of Fairmont; brother, Herbert Peterson of Clarks Grove; grandchildren, Stacy (Tim) Pytleski of East Chain, and Laura Springer of Lonsdale; and great-grandchildren: Logan and Kenlie Pytleski of East Chain.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Palmerton.
