Walter E. Beyer, 93, Bricelyn

Walter E. Beyer, age 93, of Bricelyn, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Blue Earth.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. The Rev. Edward Nieman and the Rev. Patricia Hinkie will officiate. Visitation will be at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, and visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.
He married Freda Bauman on June 6, 1934, at the Rice Lake Church in Foster Township, Faribault County.
Walter attended school in Wells thru the eighth grade. He farmed most of his life, moving from the farm into Bricelyn in 1962. Walter continued helping his son farm until 1986. He was a janitor at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church for 23 years. Walter and his family raised and showed Shetland ponies for many years. He gave up driving when he was 90 years old. Walter loved horses, and mowing lawn for the church and church cemetery. Walter especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Bricelyn Lutheran Church and a former member of the Rice Lake EUB Church.
Walter is survived by one daughter, JoAnn and her husband James Shofner of Howard Lake, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Jeanette Beyer Ladlie and husband Dale of Freeborn; five grandchildren: Mike and wife Michele Beyer of Bricelyn, Jeff and wife Sue Beyer of Stewartville, Tim Beyer of Bricelyn,Mary and husband Dale Attig of Bricelyn, and Tony and wife Beth Gehrke of Cokato, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren: Andrew, Allyson Beyer, Brittany, Shelby, Sara Jo, Dylan Gehrke, Joshua Attig, and Emma Beyer; and three nieces.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Freda, in 1992; one son, Norman; two sisters; two brothers; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
