Tim Christianson, George Marin and Todd Utpadel will give a Good Friday concert at 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Grace Christian Church, 501 W. College St. Special guests at this “All Because of Jesus” concert are Robert Lovelady and Madonna Boss. A freewill offering will be received to benefit the Grace Christian Church youth group’s choir trip to California. The public is invited.
Following is a roundup of other events happening in the area this weekend.
Friday, April 18
&045; Eileen Nelson Ness will present a concert of organ music from 12&uot;15-1 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
Various settings of Lenten hymns and other seasonal music will be heard. This will be a time for reflection and meditation in preparation for Good Friday
services and looking forward to Easter Sunday. The new Fenris pipe organ will be heard at this concert. The organ was installed last year and first heard on Easter Sunday. The organ was purchased in Maltoon, Ill. and was completely rebuilt with additions by Bob Rayburn and Wes Remey of Fenris Pipe Organ Company in Faribault. The concert is free and open to the public.
&045; The Junior/Senior Freeborn County High School Art Show continues at the Albert Lea Art Center. Gallery hours are from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free.
Saturday, April 19

&045; St. Baldrick’s Day, a fund-raiser for the National Childhood Cancer Foundation, will be held in center court of Northbridge Mall at 2 p.m. Volunteers will get their heads shaved in support of children who lose their hair because of cancer treatments, to raise money to fight childhood cancer. The public is urged to come out, support the volunteers and make a donation. Donations may also be sent or taken to Southtown Liquor in Albert Lea.
