Briefs: Colonels forming for 2003 season

The amateur baseball season for the Albert Lea Colonels is less than three weeks away. The first game is scheduled for Friday, May 23.
The Colonels will again play in the Southern Minny League.

USC golf teams win triangular
ST. JAMES &045; The United South Central golf teams won a triangular at St. James Monday.
The boys had 167 strokes to 207 for St. James for 241 for LeCenter. USC scores: Ryan Treptow 39, Tyler Pederson 41, Chris Adams 43 and Scott Halvorson 41.
The USC boys improved their record to 9-1.
The girls won with 205 strokes. St. James had 239 and LeCenter had 353. Scoring for the Rebels: Kelcey McKean 49, Paige Porter 50, Laura Staloch 53 and Christina Wood 53.
Both squads face Martin County West at Oak View today.
G-E girls defeat Mabel-Canton
NORTHWOOD, Iowa &045; The Glenville-Emmons girls’ golf team defeated visiting Mabel-Canton in a Southeast Conference dual meet at Northwood Country Club Monday, 219-285 for nine holes.
Scoring for the Wolverines: Amber Weber 53, Jessica Boyum 53, Lauren Bremer 54 and Emily Wolff 59.
Golfers invited to join Ladies Day
The Green Lea Ladies Day golf league invites area women to join.
Golfers can play during the day or evening.
League play starts Thursday, May 8.
