G-E boys clinch tie for title

NORTHWOOD, Iowa &045; The Glenville-Emmons boys’ golf team made school history Tuesday.
The Wolverines defeated Lanesboro 166-167 at Northwood Country Club, clinching at least a tie for the Southeast Conference regular-season championship. It’s the first conference golf title ever for G-E.
&uot;It was a big win for the boys,&uot; said coach Craig Rayman.
The Wolverines were 7-1 in the SEC entering the meet, Lanesboro 8-1. A win Thursday against Houston at Northwood would give the Wolverines the outright conference crown.
Scoring for G-E Tuesday were Kelsey Martinson, 41; Jarrad Knutson, 41; Matt Webb, 42; and Matt Schilling, 42.
A day earlier, the Wolverines defeated LeRoy-Ostrander 180-195 at Adams. Scoring: Martinson, 43; Luke Klingson, 44; Seth Holstad, 46; Schilling, 47.
The G-E girls missed a chance to tie for the SEC lead with a 217-230 loss to Lanesboro. Scoring for the Wolverines were Amber Weber, 52; Lauren Bremer, 56; Jessica Boyum, 57; and Emily Wolff, 65.
The girls beat Houston 225-324 at Northwood Monday as Weber shot 52, Boyum 54, Wolff 57 and Bremer 62.
After Thursday’s dual with Houston, the Wolverines return to Adams for the SEC tournament on Friday. The winner of the tournament receives a traveling trophy.
