Helping to get the word out

Beverly Bera enjoys socializing with other people just as much as doing her
volunteer work.
That’s why when she gets an opportunity to do volunteer work she jumps at the chance.
Bera does most of her volunteer work through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program where she helps fold pamphlets and puts mailing address labels on them. She also helps other organizations by doing similar work when they request help from RSVP.
&uot;Senior Resources do a very good job helping people,&uot; Bera said.
Bera started volunteering about a year and a half ago after retiring from her job. She grew up and graduated high school in Albert Lea. She moved away for many years with her husband, who was a meat inspector.
Bera values volunteer work as a way to do something positive for her community.
&uot;It’s nice to be valued and do something for your city,&uot; she said. &uot;We should do all that we can for our town.&uot;
