Jerry O. Seltun, 64, Bricelyn

Jerry O. Seltun, age 64, of Bricelyn, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. The Rev. Edward Nieman and the Rev. Patricia Hinkie will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, May 16, at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn from 4-8 p.m., and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Township, Faribault County.

He was born Oct. 8, 1938, in Brush Creek Township, Faribault County, the son of Severt and Stella (Espeland) Seltun. He married LoEtta Gullord on Dec. 21,1957, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Rake, Iowa.

Jerry was baptized on Nov. 27, 1938, and confirmed on May 11, 1953, at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church. He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1956. He was a John Deere mechanic in Kiester, and later owned and operated J & L Farm Service in Bricelyn. He enjoyed his tools and the challenge of working with farm machinery, old and new. Jerry was a retired member of the Bricelyn Fire and Ambulance, having volunteered for 28 years. He was a member of the Bricelyn Lutheran Church. He was a member of AA for 33 years. Jerry loved all animals. He especially loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Jerry was the person to ask if you had questions.

Jerry is survived by his wife, LoEtta Seltun of Bricelyn; five daughters: Roxann and her husband Larry Kluender of Walters, Jodell and her husband Greg Thompson of Bricelyn, Dawn and her husband Scott Langfald of Rake, Iowa, Susan and her husband Jeff Beyer of Stewartville, and Jean and her husband Brandon Hagenson of Kiester; one son, Michael and his wife Linda Seltun of Frost; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale and his wife Mary Seltun of Rochester; two sisters: Alpha Kingstrom of Bricelyn and Sharon Hunt of Bradenton, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Ray Erikson; brother, Mark; and nephew, Lon Seltun.
