Investigators from the South Central Drug Investigation Unit, the Albert Lea Police Department and sheriff’s office raided a house at 1113 East Richway Drive and arrested three occupants for possessing methamphetamine Thursday.
Scott Gerald Johnson, 22, Alicia Ann Rettey, 20, and Kenneth Lee McCaig, 26, were charged with third-degree possession of meth. McCaig was also charged with illegal possession of anhydrous ammonia.
The investigators found a small amount of meth in McCaig’s room and recovered foil typically used for smoking meth from a room where Johnson and Rettey slept.
Seized in the raid were items used for producing meth, including anhydrous ammonia and cold pills; also found were three firearms.
The back yard of the residence faces East Gate Park. The county attorney’s office applied for a provision that gives a more serious punishment for drug possession when it occurs in a school, park, public housing or drug-treatment facility zone.
According to the sheriff’s office, the number of arrests made on meth-related crimes in the county so far this year is the second-highest in the state.
