MANKATO &045; Several area athletes advanced to state from the Section 2A track and field meet at Mankato West High School Saturday.

Nicole Lonning of NRHEG won the girls’ shot put and discus. Sonny Berg of NRHEG advanced in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, finishing second.

Advancing from United South Central were Amy Christenson in the girls’ 100 and 300 hurdles, and the boys’ 4×100 relay team of Shea Kaiser, Callan Pitcher, Bob Schmitz and Jon Voigt.

The state meet is this Friday and Saturday at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
