Briefs: Colonels fall to Rochester

The Albert Lea Colonels lost their Southern Minny League baseball opener 18-1 to Rochester at Hayek Field Saturday night.
The Colonels were outhit 17-4 by the visitors, who finished third in last year’s Class B state tournament. Albert Lea had three errors to Rochester’s one.
Four Colonels had one hit each: Ryan Wiechmann, Justin Kohn, James Gonzalez and Mick Westeng.
&uot;We weren’t ready to play,&uot; said Colonels manager Bill Trygstad.
The Colonels travel Wednesday to face the Austin Greyhounds, the defending Class B state champions.
Season ends for USC baseball
ST. PETER &045; The United South Central baseball team saw its season end with a 7-4 loss to Martin County West in the Section 2A tournament at St. Peter Saturday.
Kenny Sandt went 2-for-3 for the Rebels, who got one hit apiece from Trevor Haugh, Mike Soma, David Neubauer, Brandon Haugh and Jarrad Honstad.
Adam Schrader pitched the first three innings and took the loss. The Rebels had three errors.
