Funeral services for Carol J. Christensen of Geneva, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2003 at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. The Rev. Joel Xavier will officiate. Interment will be in the Geneva Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bonnerup Funeral Service in Ellendale, on Sunday June 15, 2003 from 3 until 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Christensen died Friday, June 13, 2003 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 91 years of age.

Carol was born Feb. 20, 1912 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Christ and Anna (Hansen) Sorensen. She attended Geneva Schools. On June 13, 1930 she was united in marriage to Hans Christensen at the parsonage of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

Carol was a Freeborn County resident all of her life. She was a member of the Community Lutheran Church and was active in the choir, church women and the Altar Guild. Carol was employed by the Cottage Cafe in Geneva for over 15 years. She was a member of the Knowledge Searchers Group and TOPS. Carol enjoyed writing letters and poetry, writing stories for the care center news letter, and playing practical jokes. She was a people person and her home was always open to family, extended family and many friends. She also enjoyed cooking for the many people who would visit.

Carol is survived by her children; Ronald L. and his wife Joanne of Geneva, Paul K. of Geneva, Iris C. and her husband Stan Jensen of Lakeville, Minn., Lois M. and her husband Jim Plunkett of Geneva. Grandchildren; Pam (Rick) Cook of Hastings, Minn., Scott (Cheri) Christensen of Albert Lea, Steve (Rhonda) Christensen of Ellendale, Rhonda (Derike) Sheldon of Fairmont, Minn., Jeff (Robin) Christensen of Geneva, Lisa (Dan) Nord of Prior Lake, Minn., Michael (Kathy) Plunkett of Madison, Wis., Mark (Lori) Plunkett of Wausau, Wis., 18 great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. Sisters; Eunice Johnson of Santa Barbara, Calif., Della (George) Engle of Goleta, Calif., Betty Ann Zetterstrom of Minneapolis. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hans in 1993, two brothers Richard and Ben Sorensen, two sisters Marie Farr and Sylvia Carlson.
