MINNESOTA LAKE &045; Basically, it was not a great weekend for the Glenville-Emmons American Legion baseball team.

G-E struggled with the fundamentals while dropping two of three games in the Minnesota Lake Tournament.

&uot;In three games, we had 12 errors and struck out 30 times,&uot; said coach Louie Toulouse. &uot;We need to work on improving our defensive play and we need to start putting the ball in play a little more consistently.

&uot;We did make some nice defensive plays and we got some timely hits, but not enough at the right time.&uot;

Alex Hansen and Mike Yocom were the lone G-E players to hit safely in an opening-round 2-1 loss to the host team. The winning run scored on an error with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Hansen pitched 6 1/3 innings and took the loss.

Isaiah Parry and Michael Greibrok were both 2-for-4 as G-E defeated United South Central 5-4. Both of Parry’s hits were doubles, and he drove in three runs. Adding one hit each were Wade Flattum, Robert Flugum, Devan Kaasa, Kelsie Martinson and Josh Kluender.

Mitch Meier was the winning pitcher in relief, going the final 1 2/3 inning. Yocom started and pitched the first 5 1/3, allowing no earned runs.

In the consolation championship game, G-E had six errors while falling 10-2 to LeSueur.

Greibrok, Jake Hansen and Flugum had G-E’s hits. Wade Flattum started and took the loss. Flugum and Justin Flattum pitched in relief.

G-E ran its record to 3-5. The next game is tonight at 7 at Dodge Center.
