EMMONS &045; The results were drastically different for the Glenville-Emmons American Legion baseball team, but then so were the lineups.

Playing their regulars, G-E blasted visiting Stewartville 11-1 in the opening game of a doubleheader at Emmons Tuesday. The second game, which featured reserves from both squads, Stewartville won 12-1. Both games ended after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Isaiah Parry was the leader in the opener, with a two-run home run and a double. Wade Flattum, Mitch Meier, Michael Greibrok and Devin Kaasa also had two hits apiece. Contributing one hit each were Robert Flugum, Mike Yocum, Jake Hansen and Nathan Cooper.

Meier struck out nine batters and walked one, giving up five hits. Stewartville’s only run was unearned.

Justin Flattum doubled and Matt Learn singled for G-E’s lone hits in game two.

Alex Hansen started on the mound and took the loss, allowing nine runs &045; five earned &045; on three hits, with four walks and five strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Kaasa and Justin Flattum pitched in relief.

&uot;The first game was probably as nice a game as we’ve played all spring or summer,&uot; said coach Louie Toulouse. &uot;Everyone in the lineup had a hit, we had some great defensive plays and we had solid pitching. It was just a nice all-around game. In game two, our pitchers gave up six walks and four hit batsmen and that played a part in Stewartville getting 12 runs.&uot;

The G-E Legion faces Blooming Prairie at 3 p.m. Saturday at Emmons. The game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m.
