Irene G. Thompson

Irene G. Thompson, age 63, of Albert Lea, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at the Austin Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 11, 1940 in Albert Lea, to Thor and Gladys (Wangen) Sanders. Irene grew up and attended school in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1958. As a teenager she was the organist for the Hayward Lutheran Church.
On June 15, 1962, she married Richard H. Thompson at the Oakland Lutheran Church. They bad a daughter, Kathy Thompson.
She was a member of Oakland Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing piano and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Oakland Lutheran Church with The Rev. Don Deines officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Lutheran Cemetery in Oakland Township. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary today from 5-7 p.m., and on Tuesday at the church for one hour before the service.
Organist will be Suzi Chrz.
Soloist will be Douglas Riskedahl.
Casket Bearers will be Dan Thompson, Elwood Wangen, Odin Soli, Darren Heidbreder, Scott Olson and TJ Sanders.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy & Kent Riskedahl of Austin; two grandchildren: Kevin Riskedahl and Lauren Riskedahl of Austin; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Paul Soli of Cottage Grove, Minn.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Thor Sanders Jr.
